Build Your Skills Over Eight Weeks

Our 8-Week Wheel Class gives you the time to go beyond the basics and really develop your skills at the wheel. We’ll explore more advanced throwing techniques while taking you through the full process of creating finished ceramic work—from throwing and refining your forms to decorating, glazing, and firing.

This class is designed for students who have some previous experience at the wheel. We recommend taking at least one 1-hour or 2-hour beginner wheel lesson before enrolling.

What’s Included

  • Eight 3-hour classes
  • Full use of the studio during class, including pottery wheels, slab roller, decorating materials, paints, and glazes
  • One 25 lb. bag of clay
  • Firing for work made as part of the class
  • One complimentary 2-Hour Open Studio Pass to give you some extra time to practice and work between classes
  • Additional clay and Open Studio passes available for purchase

A Few Things to Know

This is a small-group class so you’ll have plenty of time to work and receive individual instruction. A minimum of 3 students is required for the class to run.

Firing is included for pieces created as part of the course. Outside work and production work are not included.

What to Bring

We have shared pottery tools available in the studio, but for an 8-week course we recommend bringing a few things of your own:

  • Basic pottery tool kit — nothing fancy; a beginner set is perfect.
  • 5 plastic trash bags — for loosely wrapping works-in-progress so they dry slowly between classes.
  • Personal apron, if desired — pottery can get messy! We recommend clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy.
  • Small hand towel — helpful for keeping your hands and workspace clean while throwing.
  • Notebook or sketchbook + pencil — optional, but great for taking notes, sketching forms, recording glaze combinations, and keeping track of what you’re working on.

Clay, glazes, and firing materials are provided—please don’t bring outside clay, glazes, or work for firing unless approved by the studio.

Missed Classes & Cancellations

Because this is a small-group, multi-week course, we are unable to offer make-up classes or refunds for individual missed sessions. Your enrollment includes one complimentary 2-Hour Open Studio Pass, which can be used for additional studio time during the course.

If you need to cancel your enrollment before the course begins:

  • 14 days or more before the first class: Full refund
  • Less than 14 days, but at least 48 hours before the first class: 50% refund
  • Less than 48 hours before the first class or after the course has begun: No refund

If Neighborhood Pottery must cancel the course due to insufficient enrollment or other circumstances, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer your enrollment to another available session.
